Wendy Barrie

Scottish Thistle Award Regional Ambassador, Wendy Barrie is a highly respected cook, food writer & campaigner for local produce. Her husband Bosse is an award-winning Swedish expert in organic farming, biodiversity, landrace breeds, heritage grains & working with heavy horses.

Together, they have written'Meadows, The Swedish Farmer & The Scottish Cook' on regenerative food production & self sufficiency. Further details & reviews are available here.

Her growing network of chefs and producers throughout Scotland and across Europe, particularly Scandinavia, give her a wealth of experience and critical view of Scotland’s strengths, making her the No1 choice for promoting artisan produce – where to find it and what to do with it. Her expertise is sought for Workshops, Conferences & Events.

Wendy supports and collaborates with various organisations and charities and is Leader of Slow Food Scotland’s Ark of Taste, undertaking in depth research into Scotland's Food Heritage, and Slow Food Cooks Alliance.

Her passion for artisan foods has led her to remote dairies deep in the mountain valleys of Norway and the high shielings of Sweden; to Terra Madre in Turin and bringing Scottish producers to France. Her courses at Scottish Food Studio in Aberdour are quite unique: never predictable, always exceptional.
